Pirate Party Invitations
Have Some Swashbuckling Fun!
Instead of mailing an invitation, send a message in a bottle! Roll the invitation up, and tie it with a small piece of green curling ribbon (seaweed). Add the invitation to an empty water bottle (label removed). Add a little sand to each bottle, and a few small seashells and hand deliver. Invite guest to come dressed as pirates. At the party have a variety of pirate hats, eye patches, hooks and telescopes available. If little girls will also be attending the party, they could come as Tinkerbelle.

Pirate Party Decorating Ideas:

Pirate Wall Decoration Inflatable Parrot
Room Decorations
Balloons and streamers...the basic decorating stand-bys...are always an inexpensive and easy way to turn any room into a festive birthday party. Attach streamers from center of ceiling to each corner of the room. Use two colors and twist streamers for effect. Or...attach short streamers to doorways or down walls. Use plenty of black pirate balloons. Tie in bunches of 3 around room and/or attach one balloon to the back of each chair at the table. Use extra balloons on the "birthday" chair. Give each child a balloon to take home after the party. A Treasure Chest Pinata can be used as a decoration and as a game later. A Pirate Flag, inflatable parrot and pirate wall decorations will complete the pirate theme.

Pirate Party Napkins
Table Decorations
The easiest way to bring out any party theme is with the paper products for your table. Decorate with Pirate theme tablecover, plates, napkins and cups. Add plates or napkins in solid blue or black if desired. Scatter a few gold coins and/or telescopes about on the table. For the center of the table have the birthday cake on display and/or a bunch of balloons attached to an upside down pirate or sailor hat. Have each child a loot bag and pirate hat, eye patch and telescope.

Pirate Party Activities

Treasure Chest Pinata
Activity and Game Ideas
1. Treasure Chest Pinata - A must for every party! Kids will love "finding the treasure"! You could hide the "treasure chest" and have a map that leads to it. Make the map easy or hard depending on ages. Be sure to have an "X" to mark the spot!
2. Treasure Activity Kit - A great game for your first mates to play! Give each person a game board with 8 missing treasure pieces, and the guest to find all of their pieces first, is the winner!
3. Swab the Deck - Play as a relay game with the group divided into two teams. Have each "pirate" use a mop to "swab" an inflated balloon.
4. Peg Legged Race - Hold a three legged race (peg leg) race! Winner gets a prize!
5. Cannon Ball Fight - Hold a water balloon fight with black water balloons to represent cannon balls. (only for an outside party!)
6. Digging for Treasure - Bury some "treasure" (small toys or gold coins) in a sand box and have kids dig for the treasures. (only for an outside party!)
7. Treasure Map - Furnish paper and pencils or crayons and have children draw their own Treasure Map.
8. X Marks the Spot! - Play like Pin the Tail on the Donkey, but use a Treasure Map and have children try to find the X with a Pirate Flag.
9. Walk the Plank - Have a 2x4 plank on floor for children to walk across. Each child that gets across the plank without falling off, gets a small prize.

Pirate Party Food Ideas

Pirate Party Plates Pirate Party Napkins
Where's the Grub?
Serve finger foods that are easy and fun for children and keep it simple. A fun idea that children love is peanut butter and jelly on party rolls. These are just kid sized!

For a Pirate Party (depending on ages and time of party) below are some ideas:
1. Submarine Sandwiches
2. Fish 'n Chips
3. Chicken legs (or chicken drummies)
4. Tater Tots
5. Cheese and Fruit on skewers (swords)
6. Gold Fish crackers (of course!)

Add some small snacks like potato chips, cheese cubes and mini chocolate chip cookies. Serve party food on Pirates theme paper products for easy clean up!

Pirate Birthday Cake

The Birthday Cake!
Make your own theme cake using a Pirates Cake Kit or Edible Image (if you have the time and talent). Last resort...order a theme cake from your local bakery or grocery store. BE SURE TO ORDER EARLY!

DON'T FORGET TO TAKE PLENTY OF PICTURES!
Have a GREAT Pirates Theme Birthday Party!
